Accessibility tools

There are two specific objectives in this work package, focused on two different target groups:

To provide the necessary knowledge to professionals and special educators to guide and accompany young people with disabilities in their search for employment. One of the objectives of this work package is to create course materials for those who support young people with disabilities, so that they acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to guide and accompany them throughout the process of finding and maintaining employment.

Due to the characteristics of this group, it is necessary to carry out accompaniment and follow-up tasks. It is also very important that they have a person to support them and watch over their rights; to prevent them from being underestimated or deceived. The first result of this work package is the course material that includes all this information for experts.

Raise awareness of the importance of inclusive employment in the business sector; by creating course materials for labor actors. This allows them to recognize the capabilities of young people with intellectual disabilities and the benefits of their employability. Just as it is necessary for intellectual disability support experts to acquire knowledge and tools that will help them to promote themselves in the labor market, it is necessary to transform the world of the labor market. This second objective of the work package focuses on the development of training material for representatives of the labor sector, focusing on the promotion of the employment of people with intellectual disabilities. This output is intended to stimulate the interest and knowledge of labor sector representatives on how to incorporate a young person with a disability into the workforce and what are the advantages of doing so (both economically and in terms of quality of equipment).

The outcome is focused on two main target groups of the project, intellectual disability support professionals and business representatives:

EMPOWERPLAY TRAINING COURSES FOR ASSISTANTS as promoters of inclusive employment. EmpowerPlay training courses for assistants are aimed at special educators in order to transfer knowledge about the inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities in the workplace. The expected impact of the training course is an increase in the capacities of special educators across Europe to support the job search of people with intellectual disabilities.

EMPOWERPLAY TRAINING COURSE FOR LABOR AGENTS. An awareness and orientation material for companies as employers in the manufacturing, tourism and health sectors. It will include information related to technical skills for inclusion in the workplace for company representatives. In addition, according to much research, many managers and employers complain about the lack of information on the legal and tax advantages of employing a person with a disability; this information will also be included. This material will include useful information on what contractors should know when employing youth with intellectual disabilities. Here, company representatives will find information on the benefits and potential of this social group in their companies and also on how to help them adapt to their new workplace.
