Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the EMPOWERPLAY mobile application (“Application”), developed within the Erasmus+ project “EmpowerPlay: Enhancing Job Skills through Gamification for Youth with Intellectual Disabilities”.

EMPOWERPLAY is an accessible educational serious game designed primarily to support young people with intellectual disabilities in learning about different jobs and developing knowledge and skills related to employability. The learning content focuses particularly on jobs and workplace situations connected with the tourism, manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

The Application was technically developed under the leadership of AIJU – Instituto Tecnológico de Producto Infantil y Ocio (Spain), in cooperation with the EMPOWERPLAY consortium. The project consortium is formed by FUB Stockholm (Sweden), AIJU (Spain), SUSTENTO (Latvia) and Incirliova Genclik Kultur Sanat ve Gelisim Dernegi – IOVA (Türkiye).

The sole responsibility for the Application lies with the project consortium. The European Union is not responsible for any use that may be made of the information contained in the Application.

This Privacy Policy explains how privacy is protected when using the Application. EMPOWERPLAY has been designed so that users can play without registering and without providing personal information.

1. Personal Data Collected by the Application

EMPOWERPLAY does not require registration and does not collect personal data from users through the Application.

  • No name, surname, email address or telephone number is requested.

  • No account, username or password is required.

  • No age, date of birth or demographic profile is requested.

  • No exact or approximate location is collected.

  • No IP address, device identifier or other technical identifier is collected by the consortium through the app.

  • No gameplay behaviour, progress, scores or usage statistics are transmitted to the consortium for analytics purposes.

  • No advertising or behavioural tracking profile is created.

Because the Application does not collect personal data, the consortium does not create a database of identifiable EMPOWERPLAY users.

2. Analytics, Advertising and Tracking

EMPOWERPLAY does not integrate analytics services or tracking tools for the purpose of monitoring how users behave inside the Application. It is not used to build advertising profiles or to deliver personalised advertising.

The Application is distributed through third-party app stores such as Google Play. These platforms may process information independently in connection with downloading, installing or updating applications. Any such processing is governed by the privacy terms of the relevant platform and is not carried out by EMPOWERPLAY itself.

3. Purpose of the Application

The Application is provided exclusively for educational and awareness-raising purposes. Its objective is to help users become familiar with different professions and workplace tasks, and to support learning related to job preparation and employability through gamification.

No personal data are required in order to access these educational functions.

4. Data Storage and Servers

EMPOWERPLAY does not transmit personal user information to the consortium for storage. Therefore, no server-side personal user profile is created by the Application.

AIJU is responsible for the technical development and maintenance of the digital game and related project infrastructure. This technical role does not involve collecting personal data from app users under the current version of EMPOWERPLAY.

Under the current design of EMPOWERPLAY, the Application does not process personal data from users for registration, profiling, analytics, advertising or behavioural monitoring. Therefore, no consent to personal-data processing is required simply to download and use the Application.

If a user voluntarily contacts the consortium by email or another direct communication channel, the contact details and message provided by that user may be processed only for the purpose of responding to the request. Such information will be handled in accordance with applicable data-protection legislation, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR).

6. Data Retention

Because the Application does not collect personal data from users, there is no retention period for personal user data generated through normal gameplay.

If a user contacts the consortium voluntarily, the information contained in that communication will be retained only for as long as necessary to respond to the request and to comply with any applicable legal obligations.

7. Young Users and Accessibility

EMPOWERPLAY was developed primarily for young people with intellectual disabilities and uses an accessible, educational and game-based approach. The project particularly focuses on young people preparing to improve their employment-related knowledge and skills.

The Application does not ask users to provide their age and does not create user accounts or profiles. It does not use personal data for advertising, profiling or marketing. Users who require support in understanding or using the Application may use it together with a parent, guardian, educator or support professional.

8. Your Data Protection Rights

As EMPOWERPLAY does not collect personal data through normal use of the Application, the consortium will normally hold no personal user information to access, correct or delete.

If you have voluntarily contacted the consortium and personal information has therefore been provided through that communication, you may exercise the rights available under applicable data-protection law, including, where applicable:

  • Access to your personal data.

  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Erasure of personal data.

  • Restriction of processing.

  • Objection to processing.

  • Data portability, where applicable.

  • Lodging a complaint with the competent data-protection supervisory authority.

Privacy requests may be sent to: tic@aiju.es.

9. Security

The privacy risks associated with the Application are reduced by design because EMPOWERPLAY does not require accounts and does not collect personal or behavioural data from users. AIJU and the project consortium apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to maintain the security and integrity of the Application and its supporting infrastructure.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the Application, applicable legislation or the way the service operates changes. If a future version of EMPOWERPLAY introduces functionality that collects personal data, this Privacy Policy will be updated before that processing begins and any consent or information required by law will be provided to users.

Effective Date: 21 September 2026
